EXECUTIVE COACHING

Coaching is a personal development opportunity for executives or managers who are high achievers with great potential, but struggle with some roadblock to achieving their full potential. That block might be because of:
an interpersonal difficulty with other people
an issue of personal effectiveness
a problem with matching management style to the differing needs of individual contributors

Many interpersonal leadership skills are often underdeveloped when technical competence has been the principal criteria for promotion and advancement. The result is ineffective, or dysfunctional, patterns of personal behavior in the organizational setting. Frequently, coaching is critical to keeping the executive in the organization.

Coaching is a key component of the team-building process. Individual meetings, behavioral feedback and facilitated team meetings are all learning opportunities.

The Process

The Executive Coaching process encourages the selected executives to:
Accept personal response-ability for behavioral change(s)
Contract for specific personal changes in the workplace
Contract with a more senior organization mentor
Receive behavioral feedback from peers and direct reports
Use their coach to gain understanding of reactive behaviors
Receive periodic feedback from workgroup members
Participate in scheduled follow-up meetings with the coach

Executive Coaching with sibling teams is often critical to their success as owners or managers. Individuals meetings with each sibling and key non-family executives are followed by two hour team meetings. During these monthly meetings, the typical agenda includes:
Interpersonal issues
Family issues
Business issues
Community issues

The participants are coached through the process of understanding and resolving conflicts. They develop a system for addressing differences that can be used on a daily basis. Observations of their interactive styles are used during the feedback portion of individual coaching sessions.
